New Delhi, Oct 8 (NationPress) In a significant boost for the ‘Make in India’ initiative and the production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, the tech giant Apple has achieved iPhone exports totaling approximately $10 billion, or over Rs 88,500 crore, from India during the April-September period of the current fiscal year, as per industry estimates.
This marks a remarkable 75 percent increase in iPhone exports from India compared to the same timeframe last fiscal year (FY25), according to the data.
“Made in Bharat. Trusted globally.” stated IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a post on X on Wednesday.
Industry data indicates that Apple exported iPhones worth $1.25 billion in September alone, a substantial rise from $490 million in exports during the same month last year.
With Apple leading the charge, India’s smartphone exports exceeded Rs 1 lakh crore in value during the first five months of FY26, setting a new benchmark. This figure represents an impressive 55 percent growth compared to Rs 64,500 crore during the same period last fiscal year (FY25).
The PLI scheme has motivated the US tech behemoth to enhance its manufacturing capabilities in India. Apple has ramped up production in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, capitalizing on the PLI initiative while safeguarding itself against possible tariff hikes.
Moreover, Apple has directed a significant portion of its export capacity in India to cater to the US market throughout 2025. Indian iPhone shipments to the US have surged, with 78 percent of domestically assembled iPhones exported there in the first half of 2025, a jump from 53 percent the previous year.
Alongside China and Vietnam, India is emerging as a crucial player in global electronics manufacturing, with firms relocating production to diversify their supply chains.
Analysts predict that Apple is on track to achieve its highest festive sales in India, with an expected 28 percent year-on-year sales increase in 2025, thanks to the early success of the iPhone 17 series.
The iPhone 17 was unveiled on September 9, boasting a new Centre Stage front camera, a 48MP Fusion Main camera with a high-quality 2x Telephoto, and an innovative 48MP Fusion Ultra-Wide camera designed for detailed macro photography.
The device features a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display equipped with ProMotion technology, touted to be both larger and brighter. The new Ceramic Shield 2 reportedly offers enhanced durability, with 3x better scratch resistance compared to its predecessor and reduced glare. The phone is powered by the latest-generation A19 chip for heightened performance and durability.
