Did Ariana Grande Just Celebrate Cynthia Erivo's ‘Dracula’ Show?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, Feb 19 (NationPress) The bond between Hollywood stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo remains strong long after promoting their film ‘Wicked: For Good’.
Ariana Grande, 32, recently took to her social media to cheer on her ‘Wicked’ co-star’s one-woman performance ‘Dracula’, which debuted at the Noël Coward Theatre in London’s West End, according to ‘People’ magazine.
“Absolutely @cynthiaerivo,” Ariana Grande posted in her Instagram Stories alongside a reposted image of Erivo in ‘Dracula’. “Congratulations my brilliant, unstoppable friend.” Erivo, 39, shared Grande’s story and replied, “Thank you. I love you.”
As reported by ‘People’, Erivo showcased a carousel of delightful moments from the show’s premiere on Instagram on February 17. Among the images is one of Erivo alongside Kip Williams, the writer behind the West End’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s iconic horror tale.
“OPENING NIGHT for @draculawestend!! So much to express, but for now, I’ll just say this,” Erivo captioned. “Thank you for all the love, and for those who came to support and celebrate our show… See you soon for another round.”
Erivo’s ‘Dracula’ takes a unique spin on the classic vampire story, presented as a one-woman show. The Oscar-nominated actress embodies 23 characters, including the lead vampire, alone on stage. “I’m f* petrified. I really am. I’m very scared,” Cynthia Erivo expressed in a recent chat with Jonathan Bailey for Wonderland Magazine. “But I’m also like, I don’t know, is this sadistic of me, but I’m truly excited about it as well. It’s absolutely nonsensical and insane.”
This performance marks Cynthia Erivo’s return to the stage after leading the 2015 revival of The Color Purple. Her portrayal of Celie Harris propelled Erivo from London to a Tony Award-winning breakout on Broadway.
“It’s been so long since I’ve been back on stage,” she mentioned. “The first time I really did anything that felt like a stage was Jesus Christ Superstar, and that was just for three nights (in August).”
