Guwahati, Sep 10 (NationPress) The Indian Army on Wednesday inaugurated a National Integration Tour for tribal students hailing from Assam’s Tinsukia district as part of its community engagement initiative known as Operation Sadbhavana, according to officials.
This program, facilitated by the Red Shield Division under the Spear Corps, is designed to introduce students from remote regions of Upper Assam to the country’s rich cultural legacy and contemporary institutions, while promoting a sense of unity and self-assurance.
As per officials, the tour commenced on September 10 and will encompass three significant destinations. The students will initially journey to New Delhi, where they are set to meet the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan and explore various notable heritage sites in the capital.
The second phase of the tour will lead them to Mumbai, where they will embark on Indian Navy warships and visit cultural hotspots that illustrate the city's rich diversity and vibrancy. The final destination will be Ahilya Nagar, where they will visit the Armoured Corps Centre and School (ACC&S).
During this visit, students will observe the training of Agniveers, learn about battle tank operations, engage in interactive activities, and even enjoy thrilling tank rides.
At the flag-off ceremony, Army officials engaged with both students and their parents.
The parents expressed their joy and gratitude, labeling it a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” for their children. The students, filled with excitement, eagerly anticipated their meeting with the President and the chance to experience military life firsthand.
“The National Integration Tour aims to not only expand the horizons of these young individuals but also instill a sense of pride in the nation’s heritage, motivating them to evolve into responsible citizens,” remarked an Army official.
This initiative, under Operation Sadbhavana, forms part of the Army’s ongoing efforts to connect remote communities with mainstream India. Officials noted that such exposure trips have consistently reinforced ties between the armed forces and inhabitants of the distant regions of the Northeast.
