Kolkata, April 12 (NationPress) In a tense encounter, Mohammed Asif netted a crucial first-half goal, leading Inter Kashi to a narrow 1-0 victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club at the Kalyani Stadium on Sunday. This win marked Inter Kashi's second straight victory in the Indian Super League 2025-26.

The outcome propelled Inter Kashi to eighth place in the league standings, amassing 11 points from eight matches, while Mohammedan languished at the bottom, still seeking their first point from seven games. Sandip Mandi was named the Player of the Match.

Mohammedan started energetically, earning several corners early on but could not convert their pressure into goals. Midfielder Mahitosh Roy had a shot blocked, and right winger Yash Chickro narrowly missed the target as the visitors attempted to take control.

As the match progressed, Inter Kashi found their rhythm. In the 15th minute, they broke the deadlock with a well-orchestrated move down the left flank. Rohit Danu played a key role, releasing Sandip Mandi into the box, who then set up Mohammed Asif. The striker executed a composed left-footed finish into the bottom-left corner, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Continuing to press, Mohammedan created additional chances through Dinesh Meitei and Lalngaihsaka from set-pieces, while Lalremsanga remained a persistent threat, but Inter Kashi maintained their defensive structure, limiting the visitors to long-range attempts.

As the match drew to a close, Mohammedan committed more players forward in search of an equalizer. The duo of Lalngaihsaka and Lalremsanga nearly combined for a goal in stoppage time, but their final shot went just wide, encapsulating a frustrating night for Mehrajuddin Wadoo's side.

In the end, Inter Kashi managed the closing moments with poise, and goalkeeper Shubham Dhas ensured no late surprises, securing a hard-earned 1-0 win for the hosts.
