New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) As the Delhi Assembly elections draw near, The President of the Republican Party of India (RPI) and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has openly criticized Aam Aadmi Party convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for not delivering on his electoral promises after three consecutive terms in office.
In an interview with IANS, Athawale expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will achieve a significant victory in the upcoming Assembly elections set for February 5.
He pointed out that Kejriwal has failed to provide permanent housing for the underprivileged and slum residents in the capital. In contrast, the BJP, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has already made strides in fulfilling their commitments regarding housing for slum dwellers in the city, Athawale noted.
"This time, the BJP will establish its government in Delhi, while the AAP will be ousted after 15 years in power," he stated.
Regarding the recent incident where Kejriwal's convoy was reportedly attacked during a door-to-door campaign in New Delhi, Athawale remarked, "It is not the BJP, but the citizens of Delhi who are expressing their discontent towards Kejriwal by throwing stones and bricks, due to his unfulfilled promises that led to his lengthy tenure in power. Therefore, the AAP must not return to power in the upcoming Assembly elections."
On January 18, the AAP shared a video of the event, asserting that stones and bricks were hurled at Kejriwal's vehicle. They accused the BJP of attempting to cause harm to him.
Commenting on the opposition coalition, Athawale asserted, "There is a noticeable rift within the INDIA bloc."
"Although the AAP and Congress collaborated during the Lok Sabha elections, they are currently in disagreement. The AAP has announced its intention to contest independently in Delhi, with Congress also running its own campaign. While some smaller parties are backing the AAP, their impact will be minimal. In my opinion, the INDIA bloc is fragmented," he added.
The Union Minister dismissed claims that investigative agencies in Delhi were operating lawfully, referencing the arrests of Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and other AAP leaders.
"Kejriwal is facing allegations of receiving substantial commissions related to the liquor policy scandal in Delhi," Athawale noted.
"The BJP is poised to win in Delhi due to Modi's achievements, which resonate with the populace. This time, they will grant the BJP the chance to lead the government," he concluded.
