Canberra, June 10 (NationPress) Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed that his administration has engaged with the US government regarding the incident involving an Australian reporter shot with rubber bullets in Los Angeles.
Television news reporter Lauren Tomasi was on assignment covering ongoing protests in Los Angeles for Australia's Nine Network News when she was struck in the leg by a rubber bullet discharged by a police officer in the downtown area.
Albanese described the footage of the event, which was released by Nine and depicted the officer directing his weapon at Tomasi before firing, as “horrific.”
“I spoke with Lauren this morning. She's doing alright. She's quite resilient,” he stated.
“We have already brought up these concerns with the US authorities. We find the incident unacceptable. The media plays a crucial role,” he added.
