Mumbai, Oct 24 (NationPress) Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana has shared insights into what attracted him to the script of “Thamma.”
In an exclusive chat with IANS, the ‘Bala’ actor revealed that a mix of the captivating storyline, the director's creative vision, and the franchise's established success influenced his decision to join the project. Ayushmann expressed his enthusiasm for being part of a film that combines elements of horror and comedy. When asked about the script's allure, he said, “There are many reasons that motivate an actor to engage in a film. It’s not solely one aspect. You consider the director, the producer, and, of course, the narrative. Moreover, the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe stands out as one of the most successful franchises in Hindi cinema, and I have always admired it.”
Khurrana remarked, “This marks my second collaboration with Amar Kaushik following Bala, and my inaugural experience with director Aditya Sarpotdar. I loved Munjya, and undeniably, Dinesh Vijan is among the top producers in the country. Thus, saying yes to Thamma was an obvious choice. Plus, its Diwali release is a cherry on top!”
Discussing his role, the ‘Dream Girl 2’ actor stated, “I portray Alok Goyal, a chubby underdog who evolves into a superhero named Betal. He possesses powers but is unaware of how to wield them, which is where the humor arises. This transformation is unique to my career, making it an exhilarating experience.”
On a related note, “Thamma,” directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, is penned by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Falara and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. It represents the fifth installment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The film features Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal.
The plot centers around a journalist who, after a chance encounter with a mysterious woman, transforms into a vampiric entity known as Betal, embarking on a mission to protect humanity from the lethal thirst of an ancient evil.
