Dhaka, Nov 25 (NationPress) The Awami League of Bangladesh has declared a series of nationwide protests scheduled to continue until November 30, demanding the resignation of Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government. The party has also dismissed the recent ruling by the so-called International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as illegitimate.
On November 17, the ICT sentenced Hasina to death after finding her guilty of crimes against humanity linked to protests that occurred in July of the previous year.
Additionally, the tribunal convicted two of Hasina's close associates, sentencing former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death and former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who testified against the state, to five years in prison.
