Kolkata, Nov 11 (NationPress) The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in Bangladesh is on the verge of announcing the date for its verdict regarding former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who faces allegations of crimes against humanity linked to the July-August 2024 student protests.
Simultaneously, the outlawed Awami League has threatened to initiate a Dhaka lockdown on November 13, coinciding with the anticipated announcement from the ICT.
In this backdrop, former Bangladeshi MP Pankaj Nath, currently residing in Barasat of North 24 Parganas district, criticized Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus for attempts to penalize former PM Sheikh Hasina.
"Currently, under the guise of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), they are attempting to impose a sentence on Sheikh Hasina. She is not merely an Awami League leader; she represents the essence of a secular Bangladesh. Her removal from politics would equate to undermining the very spirit of our democratic ideals. This cannot persist. They are orchestrating a theatrical trial in their Kangaroo court, aiming to incarcerate Hasina," the former MP stated in an interview with IANS.
Pankaj Nath further emphasized, "For over 14 months, Bangladesh has been in peril. The nation is enduring significant hardships. During this period, under the illegal and unconstitutional governance of Dr. Muhammad Yunus and his associates, they have ravaged Bangladesh's economy, cultural values, and political integrity. The people of Bangladesh feel insecure; thus, to safeguard their welfare, we must oust Muhammad Yunus. He must resign and retreat from the political arena."
