According to officials, the 30-year-old victim had stepped out of her home to use the toilet when she was allegedly intercepted by five men. The accused reportedly dragged her to a secluded location, bound her hands and legs with her own clothing, and gang-raped her. During subsequent medical treatment, a bullet cartridge, a piece of wood, and a stone were reportedly recovered from the victim's body — details that have intensified public horror and drawn comparisons to the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape case in New Delhi.

Police Negligence and Disciplinary Action

Begusarai Range DIG Shailesh Kumar Sinha visited the victim at Sadar Hospital and met with her family to gather first-hand information about the crime. He subsequently reviewed the investigation's progress with district police officials and held discussions with the medical team, including the Civil Surgeon, to obtain a detailed briefing on the victim's examination and treatment.

Preliminary findings by the DIG indicated negligence in the handling of the case, prompting the suspension of SHO Rajiv Ranjan.
