Patna, Oct 19 (NationPress) After failing to reach an agreement on the seat-sharing arrangement for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the principal Opposition coalition known as the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) appears poised for a friendly contest in several constituencies.
This Opposition coalition, which includes Congress, RJD, CPI, CPI(ML), and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), has not yet officially disclosed the allocation of seats. This lack of clarity raises the likelihood of contenders from the same alliance facing off in at least eight districts.
Reports indicate that candidates from RJD and Congress will compete in Lalganj, while in Kutumba, RJD has chosen Suresh Paswan to go against Congress state president Rajesh Ram.
In Sikandra, there’s a stalemate between RJD and Congress candidates. Warsaliganj sees RJD nominating Anita Devi, while Congress has picked Satish Kumar Singh.
As per insiders within the alliance, around 10 seats remain contentious among the Grand Alliance partners.
Furthermore, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has declared its intention to participate in the Assembly elections independently, targeting six seats.
With the nomination phase for the first round of elections, scheduled for November 6 across 121 Assembly constituencies in 18 districts, concluding on Friday, the Grand Alliance still has not finalized its seat distribution.
The second phase of nominations is gaining traction today. With only a few days remaining for candidate submissions, RJD, the leading party in the Grand Alliance, has yet to disclose its complete list of candidates.
As of now, Congress has announced 54 candidates, while CPI(ML) has fielded candidates for 20 seats—one more than in the previous election.
The first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections is set for November 6, followed by the second phase on November 11, with vote counting scheduled for November 14.
