Patna, Oct 20 (NationPress) As the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) grapples with ongoing seat-sharing negotiations ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan sharply criticized its leaders on Monday, foreseeing that their amicable contest may escalate into a significant conflict.
Addressing the media in Patna, Paswan stated, “I am a keen observer of politics and closely analyze electoral trends. However, in my political journey, I have never witnessed such a vast coalition on the brink of disintegration. While disagreements over a few seats are not unusual, the fact that they haven’t even determined the total seat count is alarming. If members of the Mahagathbandhan clash in certain constituencies, it will no longer be a friendly rivalry.”
The deadline for the second phase of nominations for the Bihar Assembly elections is set for today at 5 PM, yet there remains no official word on the seat-sharing agreement within the Grand Alliance.
In contrast, the NDA has confirmed seat-sharing details, with the BJP and JDU each contesting 101 seats, while LJPRV will contest 29, HAM 6, and RLM 6 seats.
Offering Diwali greetings, Paswan remarked, “This year’s festive season brings together a wonderful mix of celebrations — Diwali, Chhath Mahaparv, and the festival of democracy, the elections. I believe this convergence will usher in joy for Bihar and its citizens.”
Meanwhile, BJP leader and former Union Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain responded decisively to comments made by SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav regarding Diwali celebrations.
“Why does Akhilesh Yadav criticize Diyas during Diwali? In Ayodhya, a record-breaking Deepotsav has made it to the Guinness Book. If he cannot join in, he should at least refrain from criticism,” Hussain asserted.
He further highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with Navy personnel, continuing his tradition of honoring the armed forces during the festival.
“Our soldiers sacrifice their time away from home to safeguard the nation. The Prime Minister celebrates with them as a tribute. I extend my Diwali best wishes to all citizens,” Hussain concluded.
