Bengaluru, March 14 (NationPress) In a recent statement, the Karnataka BJP ridiculed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, asserting that he has transformed into an “outgoing Chief Minister” and is gearing up to resign from his position.

During a press conference at the BJP state headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, remarked that Siddaramaiah, who has devoted his entire life to politics, frequently declares that he will remain active in public life as long as he draws breath.

“Politics has been his life, but what has he truly contributed to the citizens of this state who granted him this political journey?” Narayanaswamy challenged.

In reference to Siddaramaiah’s recent appeal for blessings for his son, Congress MLC Yathindra, Narayanaswamy suggested that the Chief Minister appears to be laying the groundwork for his son's political aspirations.

“He is imploring the public to bless his son at a time when his own political career is drawing to a close. Rather than advocating for his son, he should be focusing on the needs of the state's populace. These are the words of a leader in his twilight political phase,” he stated.

Narayanaswamy further noted the impending Rajya Sabha elections, claiming that Siddaramaiah might lose his role by then.

“Until now, he has been asserting that he would remain Chief Minister for five years. Let him reiterate that now. He no longer possesses the confidence to do so and instead resorts to philosophical musings. He is effectively admitting that his time is up and asking for protection for his son. A resignation seems imminent,” Narayanaswamy alleged.

He also took issue with Siddaramaiah's assertion that he has surpassed the legacy of former Chief Minister Devaraj Urs.

“While he may have surpassed Urs in terms of years or presenting Budgets, he cannot match Urs’s contributions to the state. Presenting 17 Budgets may be a record for him, but the people of this state have derived little benefit from it,” he remarked.

When inquired about potential successors should Siddaramaiah step down, Narayanaswamy indicated that it would be a decision for the Congress party to make. However, he alleged that the party is unlikely to appoint a Dalit leader as Chief Minister.

“Dalit leaders have been consistently denied justice. Despite many years since Independence, Dalits are merely treated as a vote bank. Siddaramaiah has obstructed every opportunity for Dalits to rise to the Chief Minister's office,” he charged.

He further accused Siddaramaiah of being anti-Dalit, claiming that funds designated for Scheduled Castes under the SCSP/TSP schemes have been misallocated to finance the government’s guarantee schemes.

“Despite existing laws mandating that SCSP/TSP funds be used exclusively for Dalits, Siddaramaiah diverted those funds for guarantees. Even some of his party’s MLAs opposed this, yet Rs 15,000 crore was redirected. He has also failed to adequately implement internal reservation, leaving behind unresolved issues,” he explained.

Narayanaswamy additionally called for the state government to take action against an advertisement on Flipkart promoting one litre of milk for just Rs 1.

He expressed that the advertisement has provoked farmers.

“There should be no jeopardizing of farmers' interests. While such advertisements may serve as a short-term marketing tactic, milk cannot be sustainably sold at Rs 1 per litre. These misleading promotions misguide consumers and adversely affect farmers. The government must enforce strict measures against such deceptive advertisements,” he emphasized.
