Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Davanagere (Karnataka), April 6 (NationPress) Karnataka's Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, directed a pointed critique at ex-Prime Minister Deve Gowda, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, and BJP's Leader of the Opposition Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Monday, recalling their previous statements against the BJP, RSS, and Prime Minister Modi.
While addressing reporters in Davanagere, CM Siddaramaiah challenged the integrity of these leaders who have now formed alliances with the BJP.
“Are you not aware of the past remarks made by these leaders about the BJP, RSS, and Prime Minister Modi? To safeguard their political careers, they have now affiliated themselves with the BJP. What moral authority do they possess to criticize us?” he questioned.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the populace appreciates the Congress government's guarantee schemes, accusing the BJP of opposing these beneficial initiatives for the underprivileged. “The BJP is against the impoverished and the Constitution. There is no justification for the citizens of this state to endorse such a party,” he stated.
In response to H.D. Kumaraswamy's claim that they do not indulge in family politics and that the people have elected them into politics, Siddaramaiah countered by pointing out the defeat of Kumaraswamy’s son in Channapatna. “If that’s the case, why did his son not win? While it's acceptable to contest elections when the public desires it, do they still maintain that stance when the public rejects them?” he added.
When asked about Minister Zameer Ahmad's campaigning efforts in Davanagere South, the Chief Minister emphasized that Zameer has been actively engaged across various regions, including Kerala and Bagalkot, and has campaigned in Davanagere as well.
“Zameer is a loyal soldier of the party. He has communicated a clear message to voters and party members in favor of Congress,” he remarked.
Siddaramaiah further targeted BJP leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, stating that he had previously benefited from the Congress before switching to the BJP for similar advantages. “Are you aware of his past statements regarding the BJP?” he inquired.
He also alleged that former PM Deve Gowda and his son H.D. Kumaraswamy have allied with the BJP to maintain their political relevance and should reflect on their previous criticisms of the BJP and RSS.
Criticizing the JD(S), Siddaramaiah noted that during his tenure as the state president, the party secured 59 seats, a feat it has not replicated since, now dwindling to 19 seats.
In response to Kumaraswamy’s accusation that the Congress government is neglecting industrial development in the state, the Chief Minister sarcastically remarked, “One who cannot ride a horse that is offered cannot be deemed courageous or brave.”
