Bengaluru, Aug 18 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP has called for immediate action against activist Mahesh Shetty Timarodi, who is leading the charge for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry into the alleged Dharmasthala murders case. Timarodi has made alarming accusations against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, claiming he is responsible for 28 murders. These claims were made during an interview with a news channel concerning the mass grave issue.
The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, raised this matter in the Assembly on Monday, asserting, “Concerning the Dharmasthala murders case, the individual who alleged that numerous people have been slain in Dharmasthala has now asserted that CM Siddaramaiah himself committed 28 murders. This statement was made publicly during the session without any trepidation. Is goonda raj prevailing in the state?”
“Can someone make such reckless allegations regarding the Dharmasthala case and accuse anyone? This is the same individual who organized a press conference demanding an SIT inquiry into the mass grave issue. The government’s silence only indicates concurrence with his statement. Will you now establish an SIT against him?” Ashoka questioned.
Speaker U.T. Khader instructed LoP Ashoka to submit a written petition to the government regarding this issue.
BJP's Karnataka General Secretary and MLA V. Sunil Kumar stated that the government must either acknowledge the veracity of the statement made against the CM or take action against the activist.
Senior BJP MLA and former minister S. Suresh Kumar expressed disbelief at how the government could tolerate such comments. “On social media, posts regarding the mass grave case are spreading like untreated sewage water,” he remarked.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar intervened, mentioning that the person who made charges against the CM has also spoken against BJP leaders, naming several individuals.
“Congress MLA Shivalinge Gowda has addressed this during the Congress Legislature Party meeting. I have personally informed CM Siddaramaiah. The CM has instructed the Home Minister to take prompt action,” he stated.
Home Minister G. Parameshwara emphasized that the government was not in a helpless position. “I do not comprehend this. It is inappropriate to make such remarks against the government,” he stated. However, Ashoka questioned why no action had been initiated even 48 hours after the statement was made.
HM Parameshwara further mentioned, “That individual already has several cases against him. Let us not elevate him by constantly mentioning his name. Directions have been given to take action promptly. Such individuals cannot be allowed to persist in society. Legal action will be pursued without any reservations.”
MLA Suresh Kumar recalled that approximately four years ago, an individual was arrested merely for having a phone conversation with the then Energy Minister. “In this instance, the person has spoken openly to the media. If immediate action is not taken, it will reflect total helplessness,” he stressed.
HM Parameshwara reiterated that he had already issued directives to act.
