Chhindwara, March 3 (NationPress) A political uproar has erupted following a statement made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Vivek Bunty Sahu from Chhindwara against senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath.

Sahu (45), who triumphed over the former Chhindwara MP Nakul Nath, Kamal Nath’s son, in last year’s Lok Sabha elections, stated, "The residents of Chhindwara and Madhya Pradesh have repudiated Kamal Nath. Where will he go if the police begin to take action against him?"

This comment was a reaction to Nath's assertion that he instructs police officers to "respect their uniforms first." This was expressed during a rally for party supporters in the Amarwada Assembly constituency on Saturday.

During his speech, Nath expressed his displeasure with a police station in-charge, accusing him of functioning as a "BJP's agent."

In response, BJP MP Sahu commented on Sunday that Nath's discomfort stems from the fact that the police have curtailed all illegal activities of his political associates in Chhindwara.

"Nath is more concerned about the police halting the illegal operations of his supporters on the orders of the BJP government. The people of Chhindwara have already dismissed him; where will he turn if the police start taking action?" Sahu remarked.

Sahu's comments have angered Congress supporters and workers in Chhindwara, prompting several senior Congress figures, including state party president Jitu Patwari, to denounce his statement and demand an apology.

In response to Sahu's remarks, Congress leaders and workers staged a protest in Chhindwara on Monday, with over 500 Congress workers, including party MLAs, marching from Rajeev Bhavan to the Superintendent of Police office.

The Congress MLA from Saunsar Assembly constituency, leading the protest, stated, "Vivek Banti Sahu has disrespected our leader Kamal Nath, who has dedicated his life to the development of Chhindwara. He must apologize for his offensive comments, or else Congress workers will not stand for it."
