New Delhi, June 27 (NationPress) In response to the Congress party's objections regarding the Election Commission of India's special revision of Bihar's voter list ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections, the BJP has made a forceful rebuttal, accusing the older party of attempting to defend fraudulent voters.
BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal defended the ECI's actions and labeled the Congress objections as unfounded.
“The Election Commission operates as an autonomous entity. Its duty is to guarantee elections are conducted with full transparency. Opposition from any political party to this process is improper. The revision of the voter list is crucial for preventing fake voting. This process will help identify deceased voters and ascertain whether individuals are actually voting in Bihar or elsewhere. This is an essential step for transparency, and I applaud the Election Commission for this initiative,” Jaiswal stated.
Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar criticized the ECI on Thursday for launching the voter list revision in a restricted time frame.
He claimed that this action is part of a conspiracy aimed at undermining the electoral rights of marginalized communities.
In response to these accusations, BJP leader and Minister Nitin Nabin challenged Congress' motives for opposing this revision.
“I urge Congress to clarify their objections. If legitimate voters are being authenticated and fraudulent voters are being eliminated, is Congress attempting to commit electoral fraud? I ask the opposing members, are you seeking to capture power through illegitimate votes? Such fraudulent voters will certainly be barred, and those parties indulging in deception will face consequences,” Nabin asserted.
The ECI has mandated the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, where elections are scheduled by the end of the year. This implies that the electoral rolls for the state will be reconstructed.
The special voter list examination has been initiated by the ECI as a standard pre-election measure to ensure the integrity of electoral rolls.
Officials have indicated that this process will aid in eliminating deceased or duplicate voters and correcting inaccuracies, thus ensuring a fair and transparent election.
