Bidar, Dec 23 (NationPress) BJP leader Basavraj Bommai criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, asserting that the latter only speaks during his international trips because his statements lack weight in India.
Bommai shared these comments with journalists in Karnataka's Bidar.
When asked about Gandhi's overseas remarks against India, Bommai claimed it has become a pattern for the Congress leader to criticize India's constitutional institutions and democratic values.
He accused Rahul Gandhi of soliciting help from foreign entities to shield himself from allegations of corruption.
Bommai further alleged that the Congress has “killed Mahatma Gandhi not once, but many times.” He stated that the Congress party invokes Mahatma Gandhi's name solely for political advantage and out of fear of losing significance.
Responding to inquiries about the removal of Mahatma Gandhi's name from the MGNREGS, Bommai remarked that Mahatma Gandhi wished for the Congress party's dissolution. He added, “However, Jawaharlal Nehru did not dissolve it, and Gandhi was assassinated the very next day. The imposition of the Emergency was another instance of killing Gandhi's legacy. By consistently acting against Gandhian principles, the Congress has effectively executed Gandhi multiple times,” the BJP MP stated.
Moreover, Bommai accused the Congress of committing a “grave sin” by attempting to disconnect Mahatma Gandhi from Lord Ram.
“Ram and Gandhi are inseparable. Gandhi’s essence always invoked Lord Ram. Mahatma Gandhi, who preached about Ram and cherished the idea of Ram Rajya, had Ram deeply rooted within him. The Congress exploits Gandhi’s name for political gain, driven by the fear of losing it,” he expressed.
On Monday, AICC General Secretary Sachin Pilot criticized the Union government for “destroying” the economic security of rural India by altering the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
It is worth noting that the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) aims to enhance the statutory wage employment guarantee to 125 days per financial year for rural households.
