Palamu (Jharkhand), Oct 14 (NationPress) Munna Sinha, a leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, was tragically killed using sharp-edged weapons on Tuesday morning in Dandar village, located in the Panki block of Jharkhand’s Palamu district, according to local authorities.
The police reported that the incident took place while Sinha was operating a tractor in his field adjacent to his home.
At that moment, Arun Thakur, Doman Thakur, and several of their family members confronted him regarding a longstanding land issue.
This confrontation escalated into violence, with the accused allegedly attacking Sinha using sickles and other sharp instruments, causing lethal injuries.
Nearby residents promptly transported the severely injured Munna Sinha to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) in Daltonganj, where medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Medical professionals noted that Sinha had suffered extensive wounds to his head and neck from multiple strikes with sharp objects.
After the incident, all suspects fled the scene. Police units are actively conducting a manhunt, executing raids at various sites in pursuit of their capture.
Rajesh Ranjan, the officer-in-charge of Panki police station, stated, “Initial investigations indicate that this murder stems from a land dispute. All suspects are currently on the run, and we are committed to their swift apprehension.”
The deceased's body has been sent to MMCH for a post-mortem examination.
The news of this murder has sparked widespread outrage in the community, with numerous JMM members and leaders congregating at the hospital to demand urgent action.
JMM district president Rajendra Kumar Sinha, also known as Guddu Sinha, condemned the brutal act, suggesting that it may be politically motivated.
“Munna Sinha was a devoted party member. His murder is not merely a consequence of a land dispute but seems to be politically orchestrated. We call for the immediate arrest of all involved,” he stated.
Residents indicated that Sinha had been engaged in a protracted dispute with the Thakur family over a section of farmland. The 42-year-old leader was the only son of his parents and had held the position of JMM block president of Panki for the past eight years.
