New Delhi, June 16 (NationPress) Just hours after the Union government released a notification for India's 16th census, which will include caste enumeration in 2027, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav asserted, "The Congress has continuously betrayed and misled the OBC community."
Speaking to the press in New Delhi, the Union Minister criticized the grand old party, stating, "If the Congress truly cared about OBC welfare, they would have acted on the Kaka Kalelkar Commission report," referring to the first Backward Classes commission established in 1953.
Yadav highlighted that Congress, even after regaining power, failed to implement the Mandal Commission’s recommendations.
"The Mandal Commission was only formed after the Congress lost power to the Janata Party. Even after the Janata Party left, the Congress, while still in power, did not implement its recommendations. Ironically, it was Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi who opposed it in Parliament," he added.
In a separate development, on the international stage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Cyprus’ highest civilian award, the ‘Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III,’ from President Nikos Christodoulides.
This accolade marks the 23rd international award bestowed upon PM Modi, underscoring his global appeal and India’s growing influence under his leadership.
"This prestigious recognition signifies the Prime Minister’s global leadership and contributions to India's elevated position on the world stage. It’s a proud moment for us, marking his 23rd international honor," stated Yadav.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also congratulated the Prime Minister on social media, commenting, “This highlights the steadily rising stature of India globally.”
To emphasize Prime Minister Modi’s international image, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya shared a graphic on social media titled “23 Global Honours Celebrated by 140 Crore Indians: India’s Unstoppable Global Ascent.”
The widely circulated graphic lists all 23 awards PM Modi has received from countries such as Kuwait, France, Greece, Egypt, Russia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Mauritius, Afghanistan, and Palestine.
