Patna, March 24 (NationPress) The revered festival of Chaiti Chhath has now entered its third day, with devotees throughout Bihar performing rituals filled with profound faith and commitment.

On Tuesday evening, fasting worshippers presented Arghya (a ritual water offering) to the setting Sun God, Surya, seeking joy, tranquility, and prosperity for their families and the community.

A remarkable assembly of devotees gathered at riverbanks, ponds, and other water bodies in Patna, particularly along the banks of the Ganga River.

Similar displays of devotion were observed in various districts where individuals carried baskets atop their heads, offering prayers to the setting sun at different riverbanks and ponds.

Families accompanied the devotees to the riverbanks to join in the prayer offerings.

Alongside the vratis (those observing the fast), family members also participated in the Arghya offerings.

Many devotees, who could not reach the ghats, performed the rituals from the rooftops of their homes.

On Wednesday morning, devotees will present Arghya to the rising Sun, marking the final and most significant ritual of this festival.

Following this, they will enjoy Prasad, concluding their strenuous 36-hour Nirjala (waterless) fast.

This four-day festival commenced on March 22 with the Nahay-Khay ritual, succeeded by Kharna on March 23.

During Kharna, devotees prepared and consumed Prasad, including Kheer made from jaggery, rice, and milk, along with Roti, amidst a deeply devotional atmosphere.

This ritual marked the initiation of the stringent fast.

The festival will culminate with the Paran ritual after offering Arghya to the rising Sun, marking the end of this spiritually significant celebration characterized by discipline, devotion, and community involvement.

It is widely believed that observing Chhath Puja enhances family well-being and harmony. Devotees have strong faith that this rigorous fast pleases Surya and Chhathi Maiya, whose blessings are deemed vital for a prosperous and balanced life.

The fast is particularly significant for the welfare of children, as it is believed to ensure their longevity, happiness, and success.

Married couples facing challenges in conceiving are thought to be blessed with offspring through the grace of Chhathi Maiya.

Moreover, the rituals dedicated to the Sun God during Chhath are believed to attract positive energy, success, and stability in one’s career and business.

Due to these deeply ingrained beliefs, millions of devotees celebrate this festival with unwavering discipline, devotion, and faith each year.

The Bihar Police have established stringent security protocols at various ghats with adequate police presence.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was also deployed at the Chhath Ghat, patrolling the rivers in boats.
