Chennai, Dec 31 (NationPress) The Communist Party of India (CPI) has urged for a halt to all forms of violence and called on nations to collaboratively strive for global peace, social justice, and harmony as the world gears up to welcome the New Year 2026.

In a New Year message shared during the International New Year celebrations, CPI Tamil Nadu State Secretary M. Veerapandian conveyed warm wishes to individuals worldwide and advocated for unity, peace, and the triumph of democratic values in the upcoming year.

He remarked that the New Year celebration has transformed into a global cultural phenomenon that transcends national, religious, and social boundaries. “The International New Year has become a representation of unity where diverse peoples, cultures, and communities unite in a spirit of harmony and goodwill,” he stated, noting that such events symbolize the increasing interconnectedness of the globe.

Voicing his concerns over persistent global conflicts, the CPI leader expressed that 2026 should signify the end of violence and warfare worldwide.

He specifically pointed to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and Israel's military actions in Gaza, urging the international community to pursue sustainable peace and diplomatic resolutions. “The forthcoming year must enhance global peace and mutual respect among nations,” he emphasized.

Addressing domestic concerns, Veerapandian highlighted that India needs to defend against the rising threat of fascism and ensure the safeguarding of constitutional values, secularism, and democracy.

He underscored the necessity to protect the rights of all citizens and uphold India’s diverse ethos. “The unity and diversity of our nation must be preserved, and the rights of the working populace must be defended,” he affirmed.

The CPI leader also stressed the importance of protecting state rights and maintaining federal principles.

He urged progressive, secular, and democratic forces to unite in the upcoming phase to counter divisive politics and serve the people's interests.

In reference to Tamil Nadu, Veerapandian mentioned that the upcoming Assembly elections would be pivotal in overcoming communal and authoritarian forces. He called on all secular and democratic entities to join forces to ensure the success of a progressive alliance that champions social justice and democratic values.

Concluding his message, the CPI Tamil Nadu State Committee extended heartfelt New Year wishes to all, expressing hope that 2026 would bring forth peace, harmony, and collective progress for humanity.
