Palakkad, Sep 25 (NationPress) In the wake of the controversy surrounding Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, the CPI(M) has now leveled serious allegations of sexual misconduct against Congress MP Shafi Parambil.
CPI(M) Palakkad district secretary E.N. Suresh Babu claimed on Wednesday that Shafi Parambil shares a similar history of inappropriate conduct towards women, akin to Rahul.
According to Suresh Babu, "Whenever he encounters attractive women, Shafi quickly mentions a trip to Bengaluru," accusing the MP of engaging in misconduct masked as political engagement.
Furthermore, the CPI(M) leader suggested that Shafi and Rahul are colluding in their behavior.
Suresh Babu referred to Shafi as the "headmaster" guiding Rahul, and ridiculed the notion that several other Congress leaders are also involved.
"If Shafi himself is Rahul's mentor in these matters, how can he ever challenge him?" he questioned.
This statement surfaces at a time when Rahul, already embroiled in sexual harassment allegations, has resumed his duties in his constituency.
Suresh Babu contended that Shafi's public comments against Rahul, asserting that his actions are unacceptable, that his suspension is warranted, and that he should resign, are mere rhetoric.
"Shafi lacks the bravery to demand Rahul’s resignation. They are both in cahoots," he alleged.
The CPI(M) leader also criticized the silence of Congress officials, suggesting that senior leaders are refraining from speaking out due to their own vulnerabilities.
"If the so-called headmaster behaves this way, how can others act differently? This silence among prominent leaders is telling," he stated.
He implied that the decision by Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan to suspend Rahul was not solely disciplinary but a response to mounting complaints.
"There was a purpose behind Satheesan's actions. It was only after numerous incidents accumulated that measures were taken. The truth will eventually be revealed," he remarked.
These allegations introduce a new layer to the political turmoil within the Congress party in Kerala, which is already under pressure from sexual harassment controversies involving its leaders.
