Cummins, Starc, and Hazlewood Join BBL 14 Supplementary Lists

Melbourne, Dec 12 (NationPress) Australia's elite fast bowling trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood have been officially added to the supplementary lists for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 14 season.

Hazlewood and Starc have both been acquired by Sydney Sixers under the league's marquee supplementary player rule, while Test captain Cummins will again be listed on the Sydney Thunder's auxiliary roster.

Due to their commitments across the Australian international summer, the fast-bowling duo are unlikely to participate on the field, however, both will remain involved off the field throughout the summer, as their schedules permit.

"Mitch and Josh are both foundational members of our club and have been integral to the Sixers for many years, so any chance to engage them during the season is beneficial for both our club and our fans. Both players share strong relationships with Greg and the rest of the team, and their involvement in any capacity will always provide a significant boost," stated Sixers general manager Rachael Haynes.

Starc has not played for the Sixers since 2014 but made substantial contributions during the inaugural BBL season, including their championship win. Hazlewood was part of the Sixers’ championship-winning team in BBL 09.

Meanwhile, Test captain Cummins has once again signed with Sydney Thunder, a team he led to victory in BBL 5. He was contracted to the club from BBL 5 to BBL 9, his last appearance in the competition before focusing on international commitments.

"While my international duties will limit my presence, I am eager to support the team and fully endorse the guys throughout the season. It’s fantastic to have Sam Billings back. My journey with him began at Penrith, so our connection to Western Sydney is profound. He’s a tremendous addition to our squad.

“Having David Warner secured for a full season is monumental for us. The team balance is impressive, with numerous leaders stepping up alongside the talented youth emerging. This squad is shaping up to be remarkable, and we anticipate an exciting season of Big Bash cricket. A heartfelt thank you to our fans – I can’t wait to see you at a game this season," Cummins expressed.

The supplementary player list, which was introduced last season, enables Cricket Australia contracted players to be signed by clubs as marquee additions if they are expected to be unavailable for the Big Bash season during the contracting period.
