New Delhi, Dec 3 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her profound gratitude to the people of Delhi for the momentous victory of the BJP in the recently concluded MCD by-elections, the results of which were announced on Wednesday.
In a post on the social media platform X, CM Gupta stated, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to the citizens of Delhi for their invaluable support to the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Delhi Municipal Corporation bye-elections.”
She further remarked, “This triumph is a testament to the relentless effort, commitment of our dedicated workers, and the collective resilience of our organization.”
Offering her congratulations to the successful candidates, she added, “Warmest congratulations to all the BJP candidates who emerged victorious in the bye-elections. Our administration is devoted to the progress of Delhi and is tirelessly working towards it.”
Expressing his delight, BJP leader Kapil Mishra tweeted on X, “The BJP has secured a remarkable victory in the municipal bye-elections. The deceitful Kejriwal faction has been decisively defeated. The Aam Aadmi Party faced a significant loss in areas such as Chandni Chowk and Chandni Mahal. The residents of Greater Kailash have punished those who disrespected Chhath Puja.”
He added that this victory underscores the vision and leadership of Chief Minister Gupta as well as the efforts of state president Virendra Sachdeva and party activists.
“This remarkable victory is a product of the leadership and development strategies of Chief Minister @gupta_rekha, the resolve of State President @Virend_Sachdeva, and the dedication of BJP workers,” he stated.
Earlier today, the results of the bypolls conducted in 12 MCD wards were revealed, showing the BJP winning seven seats while the Aam Aadmi Party secured three. Additionally, the Congress made an entry by winning the Sangam Vihar-A seat.
Rekha Rani of the BJP emerged victorious in Ward No. 128, Dichaon Kalan, while Sarla Chaudhary won in Ward No. 198, Vinod Nagar. Veena Asija claimed victory in Ward No. 65, Ashok Vihar, and Suman Kumar Gupta succeeded in Ward No. 74, Chandni Chowk. Furthermore, Anita Jain of the BJP won Ward No. 56, Shalimar Bagh.
From the remaining seats, Anjum Mandal triumphed in Greater Kailash, while Manisha Devi secured the Dwarka B seat for the BJP.
The AAP won three seats, with Ram Swaroop Kanojia taking Dakshin Puri, Anil winning in Mundka, and Rajan Arora succeeding in Naraina.
Suresh Chaudhary of the Congress won from Sangam Vihar Ward 163A, while Mohammad Imran of the All India Forward Bloc won in Chandni Mahal.
Of the 12 wards where voting occurred on November 30, nine were previously held by the BJP and the rest by the AAP. The voter turnout was recorded at 38.51%, lower than the 50.47% from the 2022 MCD elections across 250 wards.
Ten counting centers were established at Kanjhawala, Pitampura, Bharat Nagar, Civil Lines, Rouse Avenue, Dwarka, Najafgarh, Gole Market, Pushp Vihar, and Mandawali. Each center managed the counting for designated wards and was equipped with secure strongrooms and controlled access points, according to a statement from the State Election Commission.
Prior to the bypolls, the 250-member MCD House comprised 115 BJP members, 99 from AAP, 15 from the Indraprastha Vikas Party, and 8 from the Congress. These bypolls were viewed as the first significant electoral challenge for the BJP following its recent Assembly election victory. Meanwhile, both the AAP and Congress considered this contest as a chance to bolster their standing in the national capital.
