New Delhi, Feb 24 (NationPress) The Delhi Congress on Monday issued a warning to the ruling BJP regarding the disruptive actions of AAP MLAs, who are raising the 'photo swap' controversy to obstruct the presentation of 14 CAG reports in the Assembly scheduled for Tuesday.
Devender Yadav, President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, emphasized that the BJP Government should prioritize the public's welfare and the development of the Capital rather than succumbing to the AAP MLAs, who will use any underhanded tactics necessary to hinder the tabling of the 14 CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) reports.
He accused former AAP CMs Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi of attempting to keep the CAG reports hidden from the public to mask the unprecedented corruption linked to the AAP Government's liquor policy and the construction of the 'Sheesh Mahal' at the taxpayers' expense.
Yadav remarked that the tumultuous first day of the three-day Assembly session, during which the AAP alleged that the BJP aimed to replace images of B.R. Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh with those of the President and Prime Minister, is a blatant demonstration of the AAP’s disruptive strategies.
He warned that if the BJP government permits the AAP to derail the tabling of the CAG reports, the public will inevitably perceive that the BJP and AAP are colluding to cover up the corruption and misdeeds of the AAP Government.
Yadav added that the BJP’s primary focus should be on fulfilling its election commitments and addressing the damage inflicted on civic infrastructure, which includes repairing broken roads and cleaning the polluted Yamuna and toxic air, so that Delhi can regain the charm it had under the Congress Government after 15 years of exemplary rule.
Previously, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticized the AAP for attempting to fabricate a 'photo-swap' controversy to remain relevant in the political discourse.
In response to the allegations made by Leader of Opposition Atishi regarding the removal of images of Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh from her office, CM Gupta stated, 'This is their tactic to hide their corruption and misdeeds behind Babasaheb Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh.'
CM Gupta asserted that her office has displayed images of Ambedkar, Bhagat Singh, the President, the Prime Minister, and the Father of the Nation equally.
Should the image of the President not be displayed? Should we not showcase the Father of the Nation, Gandhi ji? the Chief Minister questioned.
Within the 70-member Assembly, the BJP holds 48 MLAs while the AAP has 22. The Congress currently has no representation in the Assembly.
