New Delhi, March 5 (NationPress) In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police have captured Rahul, a 30-year-old con artist implicated in a mobile tower installation fraud, resolving a cheating case amounting to Rs 88,000. The suspect, hailing from Hansi, Haryana, had been eluding capture by constantly changing his whereabouts.

This arrest came after a complaint was filed by Subhash Chandra, a 42-year-old victim, who fell prey to Rahul's scheme after receiving a call that promised a steady income through mobile tower installations. Rahul is accused of taking Rs 88,000 from Subhash before vanishing.

Authorities recovered a laptop and three mobile phones from Rahul’s custody.

Upon interrogation, Rahul revealed that he acquired cyber fraud skills from his hometown, where numerous young individuals are engaged in similar illegal activities. He, along with his accomplices, reportedly deceived over 20 victims in the previous year with enticing mobile tower offers.

The mobile tower scam has emerged as a persistent issue, with analogous incidents frequently reported.

Just a week prior, two additional fraudsters, Sarfaraz (36) and Munna Singh (37), were detained for cheating individuals by demanding exorbitant registration fees for mobile tower installations.

According to police, the duo operated fraudulent websites and ran misleading online advertisements, which led victims to mistakenly believe they were interacting with authentic telecom companies.

This scam was unveiled after a resident from Pooth Khurd, Delhi, reported paying Rs 1.85 lakh in registration fees for a mobile tower installation, only to discover he had been conned.

Law enforcement tracked the fraudsters using mobile numbers linked to their bank accounts and website hosting details, which led to their apprehension.

Further investigations are reportedly ongoing, with over 50 fraudulent websites tied to the scam having been uncovered. Sources indicate that this type of scam has been a topic of concern in recent meetings among senior officials of the Delhi Police.
