New Delhi, May 17 (NationPress) Delhi Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa declared on Saturday the enhancement of incubation facilities under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, aiming to foster a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem.
To invigorate the city's startup scene, Minister Sirsa revealed plans for two incubation centers to be set up at the World Class Skill Centres (WCSC) located in Jhandewalan and Wazirpur, facilitated by the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU).
This initiative is designed to bolster the Delhi government's vision of creating a robust entrepreneurial landscape that aligns with the 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Vocal for Local' movements.
The funding for these skill centers will be provided by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India, as stated by the minister.
The total investment for this project is pegged at Rs 4.5 crore, with Rs 45 lakh already allocated for the setup of bakery line equipment.

In a complementary initiative, the Delhi government, backed by a Rs 3.06 crore CSR grant from the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), is also setting up two state-of-the-art Internet of Things labs at East and Main Campus of IP University and one Fabrication Lab at the Main Campus of Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT).
“These centers are designed to aid product development, testing, and skill enhancement for startups, students, and faculty. These labs are now equipped to support startups in Delhi,” said Minister Sirsa.
“Our ambition is to position Delhi as the prime destination for innovators, MSMEs, and skilled youth eager to create future-ready enterprises. These labs will bridge the divide between ideation and implementation for startups and local entrepreneurs,” he added.
The PMFME scheme, initiated in June 2020 by PM Modi with a budget of Rs 10,000 crore and extended to FY 2025-26, is aimed at formalizing the unregulated micro food processing sector by providing credit-linked subsidies, shared infrastructure, and support based on the One District One Product model.
