New Delhi, Oct 24 (NationPress) A newly released book titled ‘Modi’s Mission’, authored by Berjis Desai, was unveiled at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Friday evening. The event was attended by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Speaking to the audience, Berjis Desai commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a leader characterized by conviction, discipline, and selfless service.
Reflecting on a previous encounter, Desai shared, “Once, I told Narendra Modi, ‘You will become the Prime Minister of India one day’. Today, that statement has proven to be correct.”
Desai discussed India’s political evolution, emphasizing that previous governments had often failed to respond to terror attacks.
He remarked that when PM Modi took on the role of Gujarat’s Chief Minister in 2001, many Congress leaders were unable to accept that a man from the modest soil of Gujarat could achieve such heights. “He proved them wrong,” Desai added.
Highlighting PM Modi’s rise to power in 2014, Desai mentioned that the “elites” were apprehensive about his ascent and even threatened to leave the country if he took office - yet none did. He drew parallels to the experiences of leaders like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Morarji Desai, who faced similar biases from India's elite.
Desai criticized the selective narratives of historians and the appeasement politics of prior administrations. He pointed out that PM Modi’s welfare initiatives, from direct benefit transfers to inclusive social programs, embody “true secularism.”
“Minorities now understand that welfare programs benefit both Salma and Radha alike,” he noted.
He commended PM Modi for landmark decisions like the abrogation of Article 370, the establishment of the Ram Mandir, India’s digital transformation through UPI, and adept management of the pandemic.
Reflecting on PM Modi’s humble origins, Desai stated that the Prime Minister’s values are rooted in his mother’s teachings.
“He faced three paths in his early life: to become a monk, a soldier, or an RSS Pracharak. Despite challenges, PM Modi chose a path of service. His mission reflects the values instilled by his mother,” he said.
