Bengaluru, Oct 3 (NationPress) Former Prime Minister and JD-S Rajya Sabha member H.D. Deve Gowda stated on Friday that his bond with Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains steadfast, announcing an electoral alliance between his party and the BJP for all forthcoming elections within the state.
“There will be no risk to the alliance in any elections, including panchayat and assembly elections. My relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is constant. Our rapport is strong, and in the last decade, I have never once spoken disparagingly of him,” he mentioned during a press briefing at the party headquarters, J.P. Bhavan, in Bengaluru.
The JD-S, as he highlighted, aims to secure 50-60 seats in the impending civic elections in Bengaluru, leading to various organizational activities in the city.
Regarding party organization, Deve Gowda mentioned that he is exerting effort, with Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy now actively participating again in good health.
He also commended Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the son of Union Minister Kumaraswamy, for engaging in party organizational tasks across the state.
“Despite losing three elections, he has not remained inactive. He has absorbed lessons from his defeats and is now functioning like an experienced politician,” Deve Gowda remarked.
The former Prime Minister also issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Karnataka government to present a thorough account of the relief measures extended to the flood-stricken districts of Kalyana Karnataka.
Deve Gowda insisted that flood relief initiatives must be handled with urgency.
“People are in great distress due to the floods. Within the next three to four days, I will personally visit the inundated regions to assess what assistance this government has provided,” he declared.
He clarified that he intends to travel by road wherever feasible to meet flood victims directly.
“I will observe their challenges firsthand, gather information on the losses they have sustained, and confirm whether the government has offered sufficient aid. Additionally, I will compile a detailed report and submit it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he concluded.
Deve Gowda emphasized that no one should politicize the flood crisis and urged the government to consider it an emergency priority.
“I have observed legislators themselves stating that there are insufficient funds in the treasury. They concede that resources are being redirected to guarantee schemes, leaving minimal resources for flood-affected areas and other necessities. Due to the five guarantee schemes, the state’s financial health has deteriorated. This government lacks the funds necessary to address the severe flooding in six districts of Kalyana Karnataka,” he noted.
He expressed profound concern over the loss of over 50 lives, the death of numerous livestock, the destruction of crops and properties, and the collapse of infrastructure such as roads and bridges.
