Shivam Dube Reflects on His Challenging Train Journey Post T20 World Cup Victory
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 26 (NationPress) Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube shared on Thursday that his train journey home following the T20 World Cup 2026 victory with his family was both thrilling and challenging, as he had to take extra measures to remain incognito.
Dube opted for an unconventional route back to Mumbai from Ahmedabad after the historic win. Unlike many Indian cricketers who typically fly on chartered or private planes, he was unable to secure a flight due to full bookings. Consequently, he chose to travel by train in a 3rd AC coach. Despite the potential for fan recognition, he determined it was the fastest alternative.
In a video posted by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on X, Dube discussed his strategies for evading attention.
"It was quite tough. We boarded the train around 5 a.m., and it was crowded. However, given the timing right after the World Cup, nobody anticipated my presence. I took the top berth and managed to sleep for a while. We dozed off around 5:30 and woke up at 10:30," he remarked.
Dube also revealed that he had previously traveled by train in a similar manner last year during a BPCL tournament in Baroda.
"I had done something similar before, wearing a mask. Last year, before the IPL, I took a train from a BPCL tournament in Baroda to get home quickly. I was resting on my berth, accompanied by a few friends," he added.
Sanju Samson, another member of the World Cup-winning squad, will join Dube at CSK for the first time. Dube mentioned that Samson inquired about the atmosphere in Chennai, to which he responded, "You’ll love it. It feels like home. There’s no pressure—you can simply focus on your practice and training."
Dube is anticipated to play a crucial role for CSK in the IPL 2026, as the five-time champions are set to kick off their campaign on March 30 against the Rajasthan Royals at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
