IPL 2026: CSK's Dube Optimistic About Turning the Tide Against Delhi Capitals
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, April 11 (NationPress) Veteran Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Shivam Dube is optimistic that the team has built sufficient momentum from their recent performances to reverse their fortunes and clinch a win against the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday.
The five-time champions CSK have faced challenges early in the season, suffering three straight losses to Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The focus now shifts to whether CSK can rejuvenate their campaign against Delhi Capitals on their home turf.
"Overall, we are performing quite well. Comparing our first match to the last one, we have come very close. Although we lost to RCB by 43 runs, we noticed significant positives in our second and third matches. I truly believe this game is an opportunity for us to elevate our game and secure a victory," Dube shared in a pre-match discussion with the broadcasters.
The powerful left-handed batsman also highlighted that the flat nature of the Chepauk pitch often results in high-scoring matchups, despite its large boundaries. "Definitely, at this venue, the score tends to escalate because the pitch is quite favorable. While the ground is somewhat spacious, the wickets are excellent, and in the IPL, fans crave those high-scoring encounters, which is what we aim to deliver as well," Dube added.
Taking on a leadership role within the batting lineup, Dube, a two-time T20 World Cup champion with India, emphasized that the pressure of being an experienced player has only bolstered his confidence to emerge as a match-winner.
"Indeed, as one of the senior batters, it adds more responsibility on my shoulders, but it also brings a sense of positivity knowing that I can influence the game's outcome. However, there are many talented players in the team who can achieve great things in the upcoming matches," he concluded.
