Quito (Ecuador), May 31 (NationPress) - Forwards Enner Valencia and Gonzalo Plata, who play in Brazil, have been named in Ecuador's squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Peru, despite ongoing injury issues, as confirmed by the Ecuadorian football federation on Friday.

Valencia, who plays for Internacional, has been absent from his club's last six matches due to a hamstring injury, while Plata of Flamengo has been out since April with a knee issue, according to reports from Xinhua.

“They are in a challenging situation, but they are currently in the recovery phase,” stated Ecuador manager Sebastian Beccacece during a press conference.
