AIADMK's EPS to Initiate Final Campaign Phase Before TN Elections on April 2
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 28 (NationPress) Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), the General Secretary of AIADMK and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, is set to kick off the concluding phase of his statewide initiative titled "Safeguard the Citizens; Restore Tamil Nadu" on April 2. This move aims to ramp up efforts ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for April 23, as confirmed by party insiders on Saturday.
The campaign will continue until April 19, with the goal of bolstering support for AIADMK candidates within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
As the election date nears, AIADMK is implementing a vigorous outreach strategy to enhance its standing in critical Assembly constituencies.
Following the campaign schedule, Palaniswami will begin his tour focused on the northern and central districts of Tamil Nadu from April 2 through April 6.
The initial segment will encompass Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Vellore, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, and Villupuram, then expand to Puducherry and Cuddalore.
These areas are recognized as vital battlegrounds where AIADMK aims to boost its electoral chances.
The tour will then transition to Perambalur and Salem, culminating in a two-day intensive campaign in Chennai on April 8 and 9.
The Chennai segment is expected to hold significant strategic importance, especially in Assembly constituencies facing tight competition among major political factions.
From April 10 to 14, the campaign will pivot to the Cauvery delta and southern districts, including Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Theni, and Madurai.
These regions have historically influenced the electoral results in Tamil Nadu, making them a focal point for all parties.
The concluding segment, scheduled from April 15 to 19, will center around the western "Kongu" belt, which includes Karur, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Erode, Namakkal, and Salem—regions considered strongholds of the AIADMK.
The campaign will wrap up with significant public gatherings in Salem district.
This final phase follows the completion of seat-sharing agreements within the NDA coalition.
The AIADMK has allocated 27 seats to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 18 to the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), and 11 to the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK).
Expressing optimism, Palaniswami has set a lofty objective of securing 210 out of 234 Assembly seats, asserting that the NDA is on track for a resounding victory.
