Kabul, Jan 2 (NationPress) A blast occurred at the court facility in Faryab, instigating fear and raising significant security concerns in northern Afghanistan, as reported by local media on Friday. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene after the incident.

The explosion took place at the Court of Appeal in Faryab on Thursday, stirring panic among local residents. At the moment of the explosion, Taliban officials were engaged in a security meeting within the premises, suggesting they might have been the intended target.

Reports indicate that some sources attribute the explosion to a rocket strike, while others suggest it was caused by a planted mine, according to the Afghan news agency Khaama Press.

Health officials reported that several deceased and injured individuals were transported to hospitals, although precise casualty figures remain unavailable. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and Taliban officials have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the incident or its aftermath.

In a related incident, last October, nine individuals sustained injuries when a hand grenade detonated inside a mosque during evening prayers in Parwan province, as officials indicated.

This explosion occurred in Shinwari district on October 19, as reported by Khaama Press. Officials stated that a man accidentally dropped a grenade he was carrying, resulting in nine injuries. Witnesses noted that the individual was a member of the Taliban and also suffered injuries in the blast.

The authorities have not provided further details regarding the identity of the man or the reason he was armed in the mosque.

This event transpired just a week after another attack in Bamiyan province, where armed individuals opened fire on worshippers during religious services.
