Jaipur, March 20 (NationPress) The Jaipur Police have apprehended a fraudulent IAS officer linked to a criminal syndicate that swindled 14 students out of ₹70 lakh by falsely promising them employment in the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat.
Following a complaint, law enforcement executed a raid in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, leading to the arrest of the suspect, as confirmed by an official on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Amit Kumar verified the capture of Deepak Jain, also known as R.K. Agarwal (50), who is the son of Jinendra Kumar Jain and resides in Kamla Nagar, Agra.
The police's action was prompted by a tip-off, resulting in the apprehension of the individual in Uttar Pradesh.
Previously, in May 2024, the two masterminds of this operation, Sunil Sharma alias Abhishek (44), a resident of Paramhans Colony, Murlipura, and Kamal Kishore Meena alias Montu Meena (47), from Dadudayal Nagar, Mansarovar, were also arrested and are currently incarcerated.
Investigations uncovered that in 2021, the accused masqueraded as an 'IAS officer' and convened a meeting near Statue Circle, Jaipur, where they guaranteed students jobs in return for money.
According to SHO Virendra Kuril, the case was exposed when Mansingh, a retired Indian Army personnel, lodged an FIR at the Murlipura police station in 2023.
In his report, he mentioned that his brother, who was preparing for competitive examinations, was introduced to Anil Kumar Meena, who in turn connected him with his brother-in-law Kamal Kishore Meena alias Montu Meena and Abhishek alias Sunil Sharma.
The accused, pretending to be high-ranking officials, asserted that there were openings in the Legislative Assembly and Secretariat.
They deceived 14 students out of ₹70 lakh, providing them with counterfeit call letters from the Vidhan Sabha to validate their job claims.
The gang employed fake IAS officers and doctors to conduct bogus interviews for these alleged government positions.
Each student was charged ₹6 lakh as a 'processing fee'.
The victims were introduced to the impersonator Deepak Jain alias R.K. Agarwal and the fake doctor Rajendra Kumar alias Ramlal Meena, which further legitimized the scam. The Jaipur Police have committed to continuing their investigations to identify any additional accomplices and enforce stringent actions against all parties involved in the fraud.
