New Delhi, Nov 30 (NationPress) A speeding Mercedes tragically struck a man, injuring two others in a high-end area of Delhi, according to police reports on Sunday.
The incident occurred just after midnight in the Vasant Kunj vicinity near Ambience Mall, where a Mercedes G63 lost control, collided with a pole, and subsequently rammed into three individuals waiting at an auto stand.
Officials reported that police arrived promptly and discovered all three victims injured, swiftly transporting them to the hospital. Rohit, 23, a resident of Chamoli in Uttarakhand, was pronounced dead upon arrival, while the other two men, aged 35 and 23, are currently receiving medical treatment.
A relative of the deceased, Hemant Bisht, shared with reporters, "It was a Mercedes, and the time was around 2 a.m. when the vehicle struck the three. The driver was intoxicated. Rohit did not survive."
According to police, all three victims were employed at a restaurant in Ambience Mall.
The driver, identified as 29-year-old Shivam from Karol Bagh, has been arrested, officials confirmed.
At the time of the incident, he was accompanied by his wife and elder brother. Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle lost stability due to a diversion, leading to the G63 hitting the pole before colliding with the three mall employees.
Police stated that Shivam and his family were returning home after attending a wedding. The luxury SUV belongs to Shivam's friend, Abhishek.
An investigation is ongoing, with further details expected soon.
This incident follows another case just a month prior, where two men were injured when their motorcycle was struck by a Mercedes in the Rajouri Garden area of Delhi on October 22.
The motorcycle riders sustained leg fractures and were admitted to the nearest hospital for treatment.
