New Delhi, Aug 31 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted how the world is increasingly focusing on India and its immense unexplored potential, using the story of football players from Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol village as an example.
During the 125th episode of his monthly radio show 'Mann Ki Baat', he recounted an unexpected opportunity that arose for young Indian footballers following a recent podcast with prominent podcaster Lex Fridman.
"Today, the spotlight is on India. There are countless opportunities waiting to be discovered. I want to share a delightful experience related to this. Podcasts have become quite popular lately, with diverse subjects being discussed. I participated in several podcasts recently, including one with the world-renowned podcaster Lex Fridman," stated PM Modi.
He detailed how, during the podcast, he discussed the budding football talent in Shahdol.
"Many topics were covered in that podcast, and it attracted global listeners. At one point, I mentioned Shahdol and its aspiring footballers. A German sports enthusiast tuned in and became intrigued by what I said. He researched further, reached out to the Indian Embassy in Germany, and expressed his desire to connect with India on this subject," he explained.
The Prime Minister reminisced about his visit to Shahdol two years ago, where he met local football talents. During his podcast with Lex Fridman, he emphasized their enthusiasm for the sport, catching the interest of German football player and coach Dietmar Beiersdorfer.
"The story of Shahdol's young footballers resonated deeply with Dietmar Beiersdorfer. It was truly remarkable that such talented players would draw international attention. Now, this German coach has proposed to train some of the Shahdol players at an academy in Germany. Following this, the Madhya Pradesh government has also reached out to them," he mentioned.
"Soon, some of our talented friends from Shahdol will travel to Germany for a training program. I’m excited to see the growing popularity of football in India," he added.
PM Modi also encouraged football enthusiasts to visit Shahdol and witness the sporting transformation taking place there.
