Los Angeles, Feb 4 (NationPress) Writer Neil Gaiman has been identified as a defendant in a lawsuit accusing him of repeatedly sexually assaulting his former babysitter, Scarlett Pavlovich, echoing claims first made in a Tortoise Media podcast in the previous year.

Scarlett has also filed a lawsuit against Gaiman’s spouse, Amanda Palmer, asserting that she was aware of his history of sexual misconduct when she employed Pavlovich. This information was reported by ‘Variety’.

The lawsuit charges both Gaiman and Palmer with human trafficking, alleging they exploited Pavlovich's vulnerable situation, as she was impoverished and had mental health struggles. When she began her role as a live-in nanny, the couple resided in separate homes on Waiheke Island, situated near Auckland, New Zealand.

Over the following months, Pavlovich claims that Gaiman subjected her to repeated and brutal sexual assaults. The allegations include choking her, striking her with a belt, referring to her as his “slave,” and insisting she call him “master,” according to the lawsuit.

“Gaiman engaged in numerous non-consensual sexual acts with Scarlett,” the lawsuit declares. “These acts were both abusive and humiliating. Scarlett felt compelled to endure them, fearing she would lose her employment, housing, and promised professional support otherwise.”

According to ‘Variety’, the lawsuit accuses Gaiman of building a reputation as a feminist, leading Pavlovich to initially believe he was trustworthy. Ultimately, she claims that she became suicidal and required hospitalization at a psychiatric facility.

Gaiman, a renowned author and producer known for his comic books and novels, has been removed from several projects since these allegations surfaced last summer. His Netflix series, The Sandman, is expected to conclude with its second season this year. In a statement on his website titled “Breaking the Silence,” Gaiman refuted the allegations.
