New Delhi, Sep 26 (NationPress) - The Union Education Ministry has assigned the NCERT the crucial task of providing equivalence for Secondary (Class 10th) and Senior Secondary (Class 12th) certificates from various School Education Boards, as confirmed by an official on Friday.
This updated framework aims to facilitate the admission process for students into higher education institutions and for employment opportunities within the Central Government, state governments, and Union Territories, the official stated.
The notification released on September 6 replaces the previous one from November 15, 2021, which had given this responsibility to the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Equivalence granted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will be recognized nationwide, ensuring inter-se parity among School Boards in India and easing the migration process for students transferring between different School Education Boards across the country, the official remarked.
The NCERT will fulfill this duty through the National Assessment Centre, Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development (PARAKH), which was set up under the National Education Policy 2020.
This role encompasses admissions for higher education and job placements in the Central Government, State Governments, and Union Territories, the official reiterated.
The new protocol applies to Central, State, and private Indian School Boards established through an Act of Parliament, State Legislature, executive orders from the Central Government or State Governments, or by recognized statutory bodies and institutions.
This notification guarantees that equivalence granted by the NCERT shall be universally acknowledged as inter-se parity among the Boards in India, thus facilitating seamless migration for students between School Education Boards.
The equivalence granted by NCERT will be valid on a national scale, fostering smooth transitions for students as they move between different School Boards across the country.
