New Delhi, March 10 (NationPress) Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, reiterated the government's unwavering resolve to safeguard the Aravalli Range during a discussion in the Rajya Sabha.

In response to the debate regarding the operations of his ministry, Yadav highlighted that the Supreme Court of India has commendably recognized the ministry’s Green Aravalli Project in its recent ruling.

He pointed out that the initial sections of the court's judgment praised the government's initiative and acknowledged its endeavors while advising ongoing vigilance in safeguarding the mountain range.

The minister was addressing comments made by a Congress member concerning the Aravalli range and the Supreme Court’s remarks.

Taking aim at the opposition, Yadav remarked that previous government administrations often faced scrutiny from court decisions regarding their effectiveness. He stressed that the recent ruling celebrated the government's commitment to preserving the Aravalli region.

“Let me emphasize that we are wholly devoted to the conservation of the Aravalli mountain range. Should the court seek any proactive support from the government in this regard, we are prepared to provide full cooperation,” he stated.

Yadav mentioned that the Supreme Court proposed establishing a High-Power Committee (HPC) to oversee conservation efforts. He affirmed that the government's stance on this recommendation is entirely affirmative and that it will adhere to the court's directives.

Outlining ongoing projects, the minister noted that the government has initiated the Aravalli Green Wall Project, aimed at restoring and preserving the Aravalli region's ecosystem. Conservation activities are set to commence across 29 districts linked to the Aravalli range, with plans to protect the entire ecological zone.

Addressing other environmental matters, Yadav mentioned that concerns regarding the Nicobar Islands have been recently presented to the National Green Tribunal. He stated that the government has tackled all environmental issues and provided a comprehensive response to the tribunal.

Emphasizing the significance of environmental stewardship, the minister remarked that nature is an invaluable heritage of the nation, and its conservation is a shared responsibility. He also noted that while striving for industrial development, it is crucial to adhere to environmental regulations and standards.

Yadav further stated that the government is advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to ensure that India actively contributes to the global solution for climate change rather than becoming part of the problem.

He highlighted initiatives such as the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree-plantation campaign and the Mission LiFE movement to foster public engagement in environmental protection.

The minister underscored the government's belief in achieving a balance between environmental conservation and economic development. He referred to the ministry’s guiding principle, “Prakriti Rakshati Rakshitah,” which indicates that if individuals protect nature, nature will reciprocate by safeguarding them.
