Ahmedabad, Aug 14 (NationPress) Gujarat is experiencing a surge of patriotism and civic enthusiasm through the ongoing ‘Har Ghar Tiranga - Har Ghar Swachhta’ initiative, running from August 8 to 15 as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ festivities. Over 1.20 lakh educational institutions across the state have engaged more than 22.40 lakh students in various patriotic activities, including painting, rangoli, letter writing, quizzes, fancy dress, and mehendi competitions.
With an impressive turnout, 5.45 lakh citizens participated in the ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ campaign, 5.37 lakh took part in cleanliness initiatives, and over 16 lakh joined the Tiranga Yatras, summing up to more than 26 lakh individuals across Gujarat. Cultural events and flag processions have been organized in all 33 districts, highlighted by Surat’s grand Tiranga Yatra on August 10, which saw participation from more than 60,000 people and was led by Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil and Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi.
On August 11, Vadodara witnessed a remarkable turnout of 25,000 citizens marching with the national flag. To promote wide participation, the state’s Youth Services and Cultural Activities Department provided over 50 lakh flags free of charge.
The campaign also included district, taluka, and village-level Tiranga Yatras and Swachhta drives across various regions including Bharuch, Narmada, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Chhota Udepur, Anand, Navsari, Mehsana, Morbi, Aravalli, Valsad, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gandhinagar, Dahod, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Banaskantha, Panchmahal, Dang, Sabarkantha, Kutch, Patan, Botad, and Rajkot between August 12 and 14.
On Wednesday, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel participated in a Tiranga rally in Ahmedabad. He later shared on X in Gujarati, translated loosely as, ‘Victory to Mother India. The opportunity to commence and engage in the Tiranga Yatra organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation was truly invigorating,’ along with pictures from the event.
On August 15, all districts and municipal corporations will conduct ‘Flag Salutation’ ceremonies, culminating the Independence Week celebrations.
In Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, grand Independence Day festivities will take place with the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The event will feature ceremonial flag hoisting, a guard of honour, and a vibrant parade by schoolchildren, police, and NCC cadets, embodying the spirit of patriotism.
