Kurukshetra, Nov 25 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that the unmatched bravery and supreme sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru inspire millions. He emphasized that on this sacred land of Kurukshetra, Lord Krishna proclaimed the defense of truth and justice as the utmost duty.

Guru Tegh Bahadur, revered as the ninth Sikh Guru, viewed the protection of truth, justice, and faith as his sacred obligation, which he upheld by sacrificing his life.

“Today, as the Dharma Dhwaja is raised in Ayodhya, I am honored to receive blessings from the Sikh community,” PM Modi remarked during a state-level special event commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Sikh Guru.

“Just moments ago, the Panchjanya Memorial was inaugurated on this land of Kurukshetra. Here, Lord Krishna declared that safeguarding truth and justice is the highest religion... Guru Tegh Bahadur-ji also considered protecting truth, justice, and faith to be his duty, which he fulfilled through his sacrifice.”

“On this momentous occasion, the Government of India has the privilege of dedicating a commemorative postage stamp and a special coin at the feet of Guru Tegh Bahadur-ji. I hope our government continues to honor the Guru tradition in this way,” PM Modi, wearing a ‘Kesari’ headgear, stated.

During the event, PM Modi unveiled a special coin and a commemorative stamp in honor of the martyrdom anniversary.

Stating that Kurukshetra is a vital center for the Sikh tradition, PM Modi mentioned, “This land is fortunate; nearly all the Gurus of the Sikh tradition have visited here during their spiritual journeys. When the ninth Guru, Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur-ji, came to this holy site, he left a mark of his profound penance and fearless courage.”

PM Modi paid homage to Sri Guru Granth Sahib and later visited an exhibition organized in honor of the 350th Shaheedi Diwas.

The Prime Minister recounted that before the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur-ji, Kashmiri Hindus faced forced conversion to Islam by Mughal aggressors, prompting a group of the oppressed to seek Guru Sahib's support.

He recalled Guru Sahib's instruction to clearly communicate to Aurangzeb that if Guru Tegh Bahadur himself embraced Islam, then they too would follow.

Haryana Governor Asim Kumar Ghosh, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Jagdish Singh Jhinda were also present at the occasion.

Previously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Panchjanya Memorial dedicated to the sacred conch of Lord Krishna in Jyotisar.

He also toured the Experience Centre in Jyotisar.

According to the Prime Minister, figures like Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur-ji are rare in history, and their life, sacrifice, and character serve as a profound source of inspiration.

Later, the Prime Minister performed Darshan and Pooja at Brahma Sarovar, one of India's most revered pilgrimage locations, associated with the divine revelation of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.

This visit coincides with the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav, taking place in Kurukshetra until December 5.

Reflecting on a remarkable coincidence from five to six years ago, he noted that on November 9, 2019, when the Supreme Court announced its verdict on the Ram Mandir, he was at Dera Baba Nanak for the inauguration of the Kartarpur Corridor.

The Prime Minister remarked that on that day, he was praying for the construction of the Ram Mandir to advance and for the hopes of millions of Ram devotees to be realized.

He concluded that the prayers of all were answered as the verdict supporting the Ram Mandir was issued on the same day.

Now, with the Dharma Dhwaja raised in Ayodhya, he finds himself once more in a position to seek blessings from the Sikh Sangat.
