Sonipat, Nov 14 (NationPress) Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini officially launched the 72nd state-level Cooperative Week in the town of Sonipat on Friday.
During his address, he emphasized that India's essence lies in its villages and that the journey toward advancement is paved through collaboration.
This year is recognized as the 'Year of Cooperatives', and the CM highlighted that the event is crucial in realizing the vision of prosperity through cooperation and self-sufficiency.
He encouraged the youth to abandon outdated mindsets, create cooperatives, and elevate them into global entities with the aid of Digital India.
CM Saini stated, "We must honor the countless individuals who, through their modest savings and collective efforts, established a strong cooperative framework. Today, India stands as the world's fourth-largest economy and is swiftly progressing towards being the third largest."
According to him, cooperatives are essential for achieving this objective.
He mentioned that in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi committed to fortifying the cooperative sector and, for the first time ever, created a dedicated Ministry of Cooperation.
"In line with Prime Minister Modi's vision, the state government is dedicated to transforming cooperatives into a widespread movement," he added.
CM Saini noted that Haryana is making significant strides in the cooperative arena.
He revealed that over 300,000 farmers have received RuPay Kisan Credit Cards through 19 District Central Cooperative Banks.
Additionally, 21 Primary Agricultural Credit Society centers have been earmarked for warehouse construction, he said.
He also mentioned that no interest is levied on crop loans for members of primary cooperative societies who repay punctually. Thus far, this initiative has offered interest relief totaling Rs 1,223 crore to 531,652 farmers.
The Haryana State Cooperative Supply And Marketing Federation Limited is in the process of establishing a mega food park in Rohtak, with an investment of nearly Rs 180 crore, under the Central government's Mega Food Park Scheme.
