Chandigarh, March 3 (NationPress) The Excise and Taxation Department of Haryana has reported a remarkable increase in the collection of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on Monday.
In February, the gross GST collection reached Rs 9,925 crore, compared to Rs 8,269 crore in February 2024, marking a substantial increase of 20 percent. This growth is notably double the national average of 10 percent.
The state of Haryana is among the top five states in terms of GST collection, alongside Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu, as stated by the state government on Monday.
A spokesperson from the government remarked that this achievement not only signifies the effectiveness of Haryana's tax reform policy but also represents a crucial step towards the state's development.
Furthermore, Haryana exhibited the highest growth rate among major states in January 2025.
The rise in GST collection is indicative of economic advancement.
"With the leadership of the Chief Minister, the Excise and Taxation Department is committed to maintaining this momentum and aims to strengthen Haryana's economic and financial standing," the spokesperson added.
The Excise and Taxation Department is responsible for over 80 percent of the state's total revenue, derived from SGST, excise duty, and VAT.
From April 2024 to February 2025, the department has collected Rs 57,125 crore, which constitutes more than 90 percent of the total Budget target of Rs 63,348 crore for 2024-25, positioning it well to exceed the Budget target.
The spokesperson emphasized that revenue is a critical source for the government, facilitating necessary funding for various governmental projects, civic services, and supporting the state's and country's development.
