New Delhi, Jan 13 (NationPress) The distribution of home voting applications for the Delhi Assembly elections has commenced, with approximately 2,971 confirmations received by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from elderly and disabled voters as of Monday, according to an official source.

A total of 2,443 absentee voter senior citizens (AVSC) have indicated their wish to utilize the home voting option by submitting Form 12 D, the official reported.

As of Monday, 528 absentee voter persons with disabilities (AVPD) have submitted their requests to BLOs, showing interest in home voting.

So far, about 1.69 lakh Form 12 D have been distributed by the Delhi election office.

There are 1.10 lakh AVSC in the city, for whom the election office has provided 97,729 Form 12 D for home voting. The highest distribution of 14,772 Form 12 D has been to seniors in the West district.

Out of 79,438 AVPD in the city, 71,632 have received Form 12 D thus far. The South West district has reported the highest number of 12,139 disabled voters who have obtained the form.

Those who received Form 12 D have until January 20, the final date for withdrawal of candidatures, to notify their BLO of their desire to use the home voting service.

Home voting is scheduled to occur over three days, with specific dates to be announced after January 20, as stated by an aide to Chief Electoral Officer R. Alice Vaz.

The Gazette Notification for the Delhi Assembly elections was issued on January 10. The deadlines for filing nominations and scrutiny are January 17 and January 18, respectively, with the last date for withdrawal of candidatures set for January 20. Voting is planned for February 5, and results will be declared on February 8.

All election procedures must be completed prior to February 10.

The poll schedule was revealed on January 7 by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, alongside Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu during a press conference held at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital.

According to the CEC, Delhi comprises 70 constituencies, including 58 general and 12 SC, spread across 11 districts. There are approximately 83.49 lakh male voters, 71.74 lakh female voters, and 25.89 lakh young voters, totaling around 1.55 crore voters. The number of polling stations stands at 13,033 in the national capital, with 70 designated for PwD and women-managed voting.

CEC Kumar also highlighted that the Saksham App for PwD voters, home voting assistance for seniors, and the CVIGIL app for complaints will be accessible to address public concerns.

The current term of the Delhi Assembly concludes on February 23, necessitating the completion of the entire election process before that date.
