Chandigarh, Nov 7 (NationPress) Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Hooda accused the Election Commission of failing to maintain impartiality, claiming that the BJP established its government in the state through vote manipulation. He pointed out that allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have highlighted the collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission in disrespecting the electoral mandate.
In response to questions from the media, Hooda stated that the voter list was riddled with errors, citing instances where, in addition to the Brazilian model, 223 votes were registered for one woman at a single polling booth. Furthermore, he revealed that the photographs of 122,000 voters were discovered to be fraudulent.
“After the media's investigation, following Rahul Gandhi's claims, it was confirmed that all accusations were valid. Votes for 501 individuals were registered at a 300-square-foot residence owned by a BJP leader, where only seven people actually reside,” Hooda explained. He also noted that some individuals had registered to vote in both Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, and were aligned with the BJP.
He expressed concern that the irregularities in the voter list have eroded public trust in the Election Commission. “Thus, the Congress party is committed to preserving democracy and will take all necessary measures to achieve this goal.” He mentioned that following the voting on October 5, 2024, the Election Commission reported a voter turnout of 61.19 percent in Haryana.
“On October 6, this number was increased to 65.65 percent, and then to 65.9 percent on October 7. Can the Election Commission explain why the vote count increased automatically over three consecutive days? Why did the counting of votes cast through EVMs take so long in this era of rapid internet and telecommunications?” he questioned. “That is why, as soon as the election results were revealed, we promptly approached the Election Commission to file a complaint. We have consistently requested that elections be conducted using ballot papers, as it was evident that Congress was winning the postal ballot count with 73 seats, only to be reduced to 37 seats in the EVM count. The results of the last five elections demonstrate that the party winning the postal ballot count typically forms the government,” Hooda asserted.
He emphasized that the Congress party is not only advocating for Haryana but for the entire nation, the Constitution, and democracy.
“If the Election Commission does not operate impartially, the democratic rights of the people will be undermined. However, the Congress will not permit the violation of these rights. Therefore, protests will be organized throughout the state against vote theft. The party is currently devising a strategy for this,” he concluded.
