Chandigarh, April 17 (NationPress) Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda stated on Thursday that independent agencies and the judiciary are essential components of a thriving democracy.

“When agencies are manipulated with political intentions, it can have disastrous consequences for democracy. The independence of agencies and the judiciary forms the foundation of democracy. The ongoing actions against the Congress leadership are both deplorable and regrettable,” remarked the former Chief Minister during a demonstration opposing the chargesheet against Congress figures Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Thousands of Congress members and supporters flooded the streets, chanting slogans against the BJP government.

Present at the event were party co-incharge Jitendra Baghel, all working presidents -- Jitendra Bhardwaj, Suresh Gupta, and Ramkishan Gujjar, along with Members of Parliament Deepender Singh Hooda, Satpal Brahmachari, Varun Mullana, and Jai Prakash, as well as nearly all MLAs, former MLAs, and organization heads.

The former Chief Minister pointed out that the National Herald case has been turned into a money laundering issue, with a chargesheet filed after a decade.

“This is a no-profit, no-loss trust. This is a political vendetta against our top leaders, which the Congress is opposing nationwide,” he asserted.

During the demonstration, Chandigarh Police employed force to halt their progress towards the ED office by erecting barricades, resulting in arrests and detentions at a police station for several hours.

State party president Choudhary Udaibhan claimed the BJP is intimidated by the growing popularity of Rahul Gandhi.

“The party that never yielded to the British will not yield to the BJP either. Ultimately, truth will prevail, and the strength of truth lies with the Congress,” he concluded.
