Kolkata, May 10 (NationPress) Authorities in West Bengal have detained two individuals from different locations in the Hooghly district for allegedly posting anti-India remarks on social media. These arrests come in light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan due to ‘Operation Sindoor’, a military initiative aimed at targeting terrorist bases across the border, according to police reports.
The individuals apprehended are identified as Sheikh Samsher Ali and Sukur Ali Sarkar.
Ali was taken into custody in Balagarh, while Sarkar was arrested in Pandua, both within the Hooghly district.
These arrests were initiated following complaints lodged by the BJP in West Bengal, after the party's IT cell discovered their social media posts, which included highly derogatory comments against India, specifically targeting Operation Sindoor and the Indian armed forces.
In response to these complaints, the police filed FIRs and subsequently arrested both suspects at their homes on Saturday.
