AI-enabled notebooks emerged as the fastest-growing category, with shipments witnessing an astonishing 126.5 percent increase from last year.
The majority of these devices were basic AI notebooks equipped with hardware-based AI features, bolstered by deep discounts and cashback offers.
Next-generation AI PCs also gained momentum, surpassing the one-lakh unit shipment mark in a single quarter for the first time.
During this quarter, there was significant demand from both commercial and consumer sectors. The commercial segment grew by 11.4 percent YoY, fueled by upgrade cycles among enterprises and an uptick in orders from small and medium businesses.
The SMB market alone saw an increase of 18.8 percent, while demand from small office buyers rose by 13.1 percent.
The consumer market celebrated its best-ever quarter with 2.8 million units shipped, aided by early festive sales and aggressive promotions in e-commerce.
Online channels achieved their highest numbers ever, with nearly one million units shipped.
“Consumer purchasing behavior has shifted, with many delaying purchases to capitalize on festive discounts,” stated Bharath Shenoy, Research Manager, IDC India & South Asia.
He added that vendors had decreased shipments in Q2 and stocked inventory for Q3 sales, which unfolded in multiple phases between late September and early November.
